Well this is a long awaited screen release of a true story of a Punjabi household in England.  And how the actions of one women in reaction to years of abuse changed the lives and the laws on the books of British law.

I knew that I was going to have a hard time with this film because of the subject matter.  Spousal abuse towards women is all too common in all ethnic groups. 

 But within the South Asian population it still a silent killer.  It is still the source of embarrassment to everyone and the women all to often still feel they don't have a choice of staying in a marriage. 

Aish does a fine job of bringing life to this role. I think Navin for the first time in my watching him actually frightened me as the abusive husband.
